The World’s Animals

Ongoing since 2005 This work is not about animals. It is about presence. Through a series of black-and-white portraits, each subject emerges without context — detached from landscape, from narrative, from classification. What remains is gaze, texture, and form. In this reduction, distance begins to collapse. The animal is no longer observed as other, but encountered as something near — quiet, aware, and self-contained. Across direct confrontation, profile, and fragment, the images construct a subtle tension between recognition and separation. Not a study of species. But a study of proximity. A continuous body of work, begun in 2005 and still evolving — across South Africa, Portugal, Florida, and beyond. Exhibited at Art Fusion Galleries, Miami, FL — named Best Gallery in Florida 2016 — October 2017.
